Governors

Home HomeInformationGovernors

Our Governors are an important part of our school. They offer support and challenge to ensure standards are high across the Academy.

They are involved in monitoring the strategic direction of our school and policies.

Riverbank Governors

Mr N Adcock - Chair of Governors/Co-Opted Governor (Safeguarding)

Nick Adcock

Nick joined the Trust in December 2021. He has held executive and board positions in a number of industrial sectors across the globe.

He now holds Non-Executive positions and runs an advisory business focussed on the energy sector. He was formerly Divisional Managing Director of Trillium Flow Technologies supplying the energy sector with highly engineered products and prior to that, President of IMI plc’s Control Valve Group (CCI). He has worked in Automotive, Rail, Industrial and Oil & Gas markets leading businesses in Asia, Europe and the Americas.

Nick is an alum of The Harvard Business School and works for the charity Working Options in Education, an employability and life skills foundation and is passionate about supporting the development of young people.

He is married with two children, one of which is a teacher.

Role and responsibility with the governing body: Safeguarding

Cllr C Thomas - Associate Governor

Ms P Jackson - Support Staff Governor

I have worked at Riverbank Academy since 2004, first as a teaching assistant, then as a higher-level teaching assistant. I have successfully managed the changes of moving to a new site and becoming an academy, and I have seen the benefits that has brought. As a cover supervisor, I am able to effectively work with a large range of classes and different colleagues. This gives a valuable overview and unique knowledge of the teaching and learning at Riverbank.

I am also a swimming coach at the City of Coventry Swimming Club. I was made an honorary life member of the club because of my contributions to its development.

In my spare time, I enjoy cold water swimming and in September 2021, as part of a relay team of five women, I raised over £20,000 for the Children’s Air Ambulance by swimming the Channel.

Role and responsibility with the governing body: Behaviour and Attendance

Helen Burton - Teaching Staff Governor

Becki Crawford - Parent Governor (Behaviour and Attendance)

Rachael Moore - Co-Opted Governor (Careers)

Belle Edgar - McCabe - Co-Opted Governor (SEND)

Pallavi Prasad - Co-Opted Governor (Pupil Premium)

Jack Tully - Co-Opted Governor

Looking for a way to make a difference in your community?

Sidney Stringer Multi Academy Trust is seeking passionate volunteers to become School Governors!

Do you believe in supporting all students to achieve their best, regardless of where they start? As a Governor, you’d help shape the future of young people in our community.

What’s involved?
Attend around 4 meetings a year (about 2 hours each).
Visit the school once a term.
Bring your unique skills, perspectives, and life experiences to the table—no prior school experience required!

This is a great opportunity to:
Develop your strategic planning, communication, and decision-making skills.
Gain experience on a board, holding senior leaders to account.
Contribute to your local community in a meaningful way.
Many companies offer time for volunteering as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility, so ask your manager if they can support you!
Join our welcoming and diverse team of Governors who are committed to ensuring the best outcomes for all students. We provide all the support and training you need.

Why become a governor?
Make a tangible impact: Contribute directly to the strategic direction and success of a school.
Share your expertise: Use your professional skills (e.g., leadership, finance, project management, human resources) to benefit the school and its students.
Stay engaged and connected: Remain active and involved in your community.
Personal fulfillment: Experience the satisfaction of supporting young people’s education and future.
Help people do better from one generation to the next.
